The award-winning film Dimensions: A Line, A Loop, A Tangle of Threads will screen for the first time in Scotland, 7 p.m. on May 11th in the Ogstoun Theatre at Gordonstoun.

The filmmakers will be in attendance to answer questions and talk about their past experiences in the film industry on films which include Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. All profits from this preview screening will go to the Moray Society.

Dimensions: A Line, A Loop, A Tangle of Threads is set in the 1920s/30s and revolves around a scientist’s obsession with going back in time to revisit a moment from his childhood. The film stars Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, The Inbetweeners), Camilla Rutherford (Gosford Park, Rome) and Patrick Godfrey (The Duchess, The Remains of the Day, A Room With A View).

The film was directed by Sloane U’Ren who has worked in the art departments on films such as Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Being John Malkovich andBatman Begins. Her husband, Ant Neely, wrote the screenplay and has in the past composed music that can be heard on television shows such as Six Feet Under and Boston Legal. The couple currently live in Forres. Ant went to school at Banchory Academy and then studied at Glasgow University, whereas Sloane is originally from Los Angeles.

Dimensions has just been awarded Best Film 2012 at the London Independent Film Festival. The film previously won the Gort Award for Best Film 2012 at the Boston Science Fiction Film Festival (previous winners include Duncan Jones for Moon).

Maybe it’s the warm welcome, or perhaps the curiously eclectic mix of historical, Scottish and contemporary. It probably has a lot to do with the food from our team of award winning chefs (and the local beers and whiskies). Or perhaps its location, on the Scottish Riviera (officially one of the sunniest and driest places in the British Isles) 3 miles from Forres, 7 miles from Nairn.

Whatever it is that makes The Old Mill Inn in Moray such a favourite with the regulars, you need to come and experience it first hand. Reserve a table, book a room, take a break and savour the moment.

Social media is becoming more and more important to tourism
businesses as an excellent marketing and customer engagement tool but
it can also be a big time waster.

We’ve booked Horizon Scotland at the Enterprise Park, just outside
Forres on Tuesday 28 February to show how to set up and maintain
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Foursquare whilst minimising the time
spent on social media to 15-30 minutes a day!

Horizon Scotland is where our technology partners Open Brolly is based who have developed the GreaterSpeyside iPhone app and are working on the GreaterSpeyside magazine to come out later this year.

The morning session is aimed at beginners whilst the afternoon
session is aimed at the more advanced social networkers.

http://gs-socialmediabeginners.eventbrite.co.uk/ (2 places left)

http://gs-socialmediaadvanced.eventbrite.co.uk/ (SOLD OUT)

This is also a networking event so make sure you bring plenty of
brochures and business cards!

The very first bottle of Chase vodka was produced in April 2008 and took two years in the making. Each batch numbered bottle is a true labour of love, using traditional methods to produce the finest, smoothest vodka with true provenance.

And it is a relatively unknown fact that gin is made from vodka. So, unlike other gins, our gin is truly single estate from field to bottle. Our gin is full bodied and sharp yet fruity.

William will take you through the tasting and what Chase has to offer.

Will’s story… I grew up in Herefordshire and feel very lucky to have been brought up in this beautiful part of the world. I had been farming potatoes for 20 and realised I wanted to change direction. I wanted to remain in farming and produce a great tasting product we could make from potatoes.

In 2002 I started to make my potatoes into crisps and by Summer, ‘Tyrrells’ was born. As Tyrrells grew I was searching for the next step. In 2004 whilst traveling in the USA, looking for packaging equipment for the chips, I stumbled on a small distillery making potato vodka and thought this would be a great new chapter to life. From the idea in 2004, it took us until April fool’s day 2008 to make the first of our potatoes and then make the first batch of vodka in June 2008. Upon tasting the very first drop from the column before filtering I was so enamored and proud of it I decided to call it Chase Vodka.

In this masterclass from Chase Distillery you have the chance to taste the vodka, gin and liqueur’s they produce.

Wednesday 7th December 2011 was the date for a very important visit when Santa and his reindeer took time out from their busy schedule to visit Cullen. Organised by the Cullen Voluntary Tourist Initiative, the event mirrored the success of a similar one two years ago which saw hundreds of people flock to enjoy the festive atmosphere.

The event got off to a great start with stirring music from the pipes of Adam and Callum Newlands, followed by carols sung by Cullen Primary School pupils, supported by the Cullen and Deskford Church of Scotland and the local Methodist Church. Callum and Adam then led the crowd to find Santa and his reindeer who made a spectacular entrance from a location which had been kept a carefully guarded secret. A short tour of Cullen ensued, led by Cullen Fire Brigade, before they arrived back at the Millennium Square, where the children (and adults!) had a chance to get a bit closer.

The Cullen Voluntary Tourist Initiative would like to thank everyone who turned up despite the wintry conditions. They are also very grateful to all those who put so much time and effort into creating this event – particularly members of the Committee, all the marshals who braved the cold, Grampian Police for helping to control traffic and guide the parade around the town, and Cullen Fire Brigade for leading the parade.

At Craggan Outdoors the emphasis is on offering easy access to a wide range of fun and challenging activities, enabling visitors of all ages and abilities to enjoy their time with us, and to be pleased with what they have achieved.

With the majority of activities available on-site – minimising your time spent travelling and helping minimise our impact on the environment – instructors that are chosen for their people skills as much as their technical abilities, bright and spacious bunkhouse and cosy bothy accommodation, as well as a welcoming licensed cafe, Craggan Outdoors provides everything required by the activity seeking visitor.

Activities include archery, clay pigeon, climbing/abseiling, golf, gorge walking, high ropes, kayaking, mountain biking, quad treks, River Spey canoe trips, and a zip wire. All in the beautiful surroundings of our Speyside location at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.
